Anticipation is high for the Louisiana Film Prize 2021. In August, organizers announced the top 20 films eligible for the Film Prize competition and the $25,000 grand prize. This year filmmakers from across the country came to Louisiana as well as several in state directors created short films that range from drama to comedy. Seven women directors snagged an invite to the big party.
“The Film Prize has always been an endeavor that gives opportunity and access to everyone and anyone who wants to communicate their voice, vision and ideas through film,” says Prize Foundation founder Gregory Kallenberg. “Because of this access, we have always prided ourselves in our ability to naturally create a diverse community of creators.”
For the 10th year of Louisiana Film Prize, you can watch the short films either in person during the second weekend of Prize Fest (September 30-October 2) or online. Due to the continued Covid-19 concerns, plans could change. Check their website for the latest updates. Purchase passes now on their website for either General Admission or the Premium Experience with VIP Access.
NEW COVID-19 INFORMATION – In a statement release on August 24 they say, “Prize Fest, the award-winning celebration of film, food, music, fashion, and comedy, will require all attendees, artists, staff, and volunteers to provide either proof of full vaccination or a negative COVID-19 test in order to attend in-person this year. For those not fully vaccinated, a negative COVID-19 test result must be obtained within 72 hours of the first day of each weekend in order to enter festival events. “We want to provide the safest experience we can for our attendees, creative competitors and staff,” said Gregory Kallenberg, founder and executive director of the Prize Foundation. “My hope is that this requirement will help make our festival safe and allow people to focus on having a good time at Prize Fest.” Prize Fest will require guests to present proof of vaccination — a vaccination card or a printed or digital copy of it — or a negative test along with photo ID to receive a wristband in order to obtain festival passes. The festival will also require masks in any indoor spaces, staying in line with Louisiana’s current statewide mask mandate.”
