It’s time to rock the Music Prize Garage in downtown Shreveport! Music Prize 2021 happens on the first weekend of Prize Fest. Instead of one night, it’s now spread out over two nights. Something new this year is MPCON. Short for Music Prize Conference, MPCON brings industry mentors and experts to the Shreveport Municipal Auditorium to help musicians raise their game. It’s a can’t miss event for those looking to further their career in music.

42 bands signed up. Through a combination of popular vote and music industry judges, the top 10 bands were announced on August 19. Five bands perform the night of September 24; five bands the next night. One band walks away with the $10,000 of the grand prize. Plus, there’s a $2,000 second prize and a $1,000 third place. You will decide The Power to the People Award. See at least three of the bands and vote for your favorite. Winner receives $1,000.

NEW COVID-19 INFORMATION – In a statement release on August 24 they say, “Prize Fest, the award-winning celebration of film, food, music, fashion, and comedy, will require all attendees, artists, staff, and volunteers to provide either proof of full vaccination or a negative COVID-19 test in order to attend in-person this year. For those not fully vaccinated, a negative COVID-19 test result must be obtained within 72 hours of the first day of each weekend in order to enter festival events. “We want to provide the safest experience we can for our attendees, creative competitors and staff,” said Gregory Kallenberg, founder and executive director of the Prize Foundation. “My hope is that this requirement will help make our festival safe and allow people to focus on having a good time at Prize Fest.” Prize Fest will require guests to present proof of vaccination — a vaccination card or a printed or digital copy of it — or a negative test along with photo ID to receive a wristband in order to obtain festival passes. The festival will also require masks in any indoor spaces, staying in line with Louisiana’s current statewide mask mandate.”
