If you’re looking for a frightfully fun time, join the zombie mob at the SBC Zombie Walk. The East Bank District in Bossier City comes alive with ‘the dead’ on Saturday, October 16, 2021 from 4:00pm-9:00pm. Everyone is invited to come out to this free event and encouraged to bring a non-perishable food donation for the Food Bank of Northwest Louisiana. Surprisingly, it is not a traditional run or walk. One of the highlights will be the mass Zombie Walk through the East Bank District. Seeing a horde of zombies trolling down Barksdale Boulevard is a sight to see. For those who come in costume, enter the contest with some pretty cool Halloween prizes up for grabs.

Co-organizer Alex Richardson says that the walk benefits four local non-profits. “Since it’s inception, the SBC Zombie Walk has been about hungry zombies feeding the hungry.” So make sure to bring some food to donate. In 2016, LifeShare Blood Center has been part of the scene because “what better place to give blood than at a zombie event. The Bossier Arts Council (BAC) also benefits from the sponsorships. For 2021, the American Heart Association comes on board as the fourth non-profit. Making a donation to any and all of these non-profits earn you entries into the door prizes giveaway.

The Zombie Walk arose in 2008 thanks to the effort of Michelle Zuhar. Alex took over in 2016 and brought it to the BAC and is now an incredible fundraiser that’s good family fun.

For the best experience, Alex suggests coming in costumes. They do not discriminate on zombies. You can be a fast, quick member of the undead or slow walk around the East Bank District. Young kids (called Ankle Biters) and the old come out every year. If you decide not to come out in costume, beware. Lots of zombies might mistake you for a snack. Fear not though, food trucks and sweets are available. You can also shop and buy some really neat Halloween themed items from 25+ vendors spread out around the area. Attendees are encouraged to social distance.
