SHREVEPORT, La. (KSLA) - After a 10-year hiatus, ARTPORT returned with an evening of creativity, connection, and a celebration of Shreveport-Bossier.
On June 5, starting at 5:30 p.m. until 9:30 p.m., ARTPORT returns after a 10-year hiatus, dedicating an evening to unveiling the original works of over 80 local and regional artists at the Shreveport Regional Airport, 5103 Hollywood Avenue.
The event is the 16th ARTPORT exhibition. The theme is “In Southern Dimension”, paying tribute to the rich music history, landscapes, and cultural legacy of Shreveport-Bossier. For the first time the exhibition has expanded beyond just canvas and is introducing culture, digital art, murals, and large-scale paintings.
“We have a silent auction benefiting VYJ Volunteers for Justice, which is an incredible local nonprofit. We had over 80 artists showing art on display that will take its place in the airport after the show tonight,” ARTPORT Director Abigail Simmons said. “We have murals. We have canvas. We have sculptures. We have digital media. We’ve got all of it.”
All the art pieces on display will remain at the airport for the next three years.
